Japanese Olympic Gymnastics Captain Sent Home for Smoking

In a shocking turn of events, Shoko Miyata, the 19-year-old captain of Japan's women's artistic gymnastics team, has been sent home from the final training camp ahead of the Paris Olympic Games. The reason for her departure is a violation of the team's code of conduct: smoking.

According to Japanese media reports, Miyata was seen smoking at the team's training base in Monaco, which is a clear violation of the team's rules. Under Japanese law, it is also illegal for anyone under the age of 20 to smoke.

The Japan Gymnastics Association has announced that it will be conducting a formal investigation into the matter, in conjunction with Juntendo University in Tokyo, where Miyata is a student.

This setback comes at a critical time for the Japanese women's artistic gymnastics team, who are looking to win their first team medal since the 1964 Olympics in Tokyo. With Miyata's departure, the team's chances of achieving this goal are now uncertain.
