Heroic Preteens Foil Attempted Kidnapping in Kent, Washington

In a heartwarming display of bravery and quick thinking, three 11-year-old girls in Kent, Washington, saved a 6-year-old neighbor from an attempted kidnapping on July 16. The suspect, a 40-year-old Kent resident, was arrested and booked into the King County Jail for Kidnapping.

According to the Kent Police Department, the incident occurred at an East Hill apartment complex on Kent Kangley Rd at 8:18 p.m. The girls were walking towards an ice cream truck when they noticed the suspect holding the wrist of their young neighbor. Despite the suspect's attempts to pull her away, the girls intervened, confronting him and eventually rescuing the child.


The girls' selfless actions, combined with the swift response of the Kent Police Department, prevented a potentially catastrophic outcome. The police department praised the girls' maturity and protectiveness.


The suspect was detained by Officers J. Robinson and Corner, who arrived quickly at the scene. Officer A. Davis gathered details from the witnesses, which led to the suspect's arrest.


The Kent Police Department is seeking additional witnesses and encourages anyone with information to come forward. This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of community vigilance and the power of quick thinking in preventing harm.
